No kidding, I escorted (chaperoned) my 17 yr-old daughter and two of her friends to Bonnaroo. That’s 10 hrs driving each way, setting up tents and making sure there’s food and beverages (adult kinds, too), and in all categories, it was worth it.
I saw some 32 performances out of the 200 (on the 5 stages over 4 days!), and some were outrageous (Jack White, Valerie June, Damon Albarn), some were surprises (Sarah Jarosz, Wiz Kahlifa, James Blake) and some were proof that making interesting and good music is hard (Neutral Milk Hotel, Real Estate)… 100,000 people in the Tennessee Sponge, hot and wet, and the festival ran so smoothly, with outstanding sound, schedules on time, delicious food, and all kinds of people. Just a wee bit dank it was.
Here’s a survey of just some of what I found there.
